Our Barefoot® saddle pads are shipped with inlays included. However, with these spare shims you can replace the inlays or use additional inlays. They are easily trimmed using a sharp pair of scissors.
Memory Foam:
Our recommendation for difficult saddle positions and riders spending long periods in the saddle - even suitable for heavy riders or horses with sensitive backs. Extremely shock-absorbing, pressure distributing and also pliable.
Excellent for levelling out any irregularities. Memory foam is long lasting - the material readily moulds to the rider and horse in use, but returns to its original shape when the pressure is removed. Memory foam is also used in medicine e.g. for bedridden patients.
Cross-sectional thickness: 20mm.
Rubberfoam inlays:
Quite firm, yields just slightly and reduces bumps to the greatest degree Use it to balance the saddle, i.e. lift it either in the front or rear so that it sits level on the horse. So in the case of very broad shoulders or prominent withers, you should use additional padding in the rear part of the pad to keep the saddle in place. If your horse is croup high, place additional padding in the front.

PU-Foam inlays:
Softer and more adaptable than rubberfoam, great to level peak pressure and any unevenness along the horse's back such as a sebaceous gland.

Heavy Duty:
Barefoot® Saddle Pad Shims 'Heavy Duty' were developed for the extreme. They are not only shock absorbent ,but also distribute weight evenly through a polyurethane plate inserted into the cellular rubber.
The edges of the inserts are softly rounded and tapered to ensure no developing pressure ridges even on long rides. These inserts are recommended for long distance riders and also for pressure sensitive horses who have previously suffered from saddle pressure sores.

Note: These inserts cannot be trimmed due to the inlaying plate, therefore we recommend the foam, rubber or memory inserts for fine tuning the saddle fit.
